There’s nothing wrong with tapered pants

» For the first time a few weeks ago, we had a listener in Los Angeles. Of course the first hushed words out of my mouth were, “Ohhhh shhhhit.” You see, Mandi gave someone from LA our business card. That person was LeVar Burton. Well, that’s pretty cool to think a member of the Next Gen cast had heard our humble podcast of nerdery. Unfortunately, it was a member whose tapered pants we made fun of on an episode. I can only assume he did not listen to the episode since we have not heard from his lawyer.

Episode 009: Celebrities on Twitter (Special Edition)

Levar Burton is just one of many celebs on Twitter. As a direct and inescapable result, Jakob and Mandi met him at a Tweet-Up in Toronto. They did not meet Wil Wheaton. Mandi might have imploded if they had. Even meeting Levar was such a mind-altering experience, it took two recording sessions to capture their thoughts. Since recording this podcast Jakob has stopped following William Shatner and started following Pet Shop Boys. [Update: And in years since, kind of stopped following anyone].

A NOTE ON THE SPECIAL EDITIONS: Before we joined the Simply Syndicated network, the first 31 episodes of Nerd Hurdles were hosted on Podbean. Technically, they still are. But since letting our pro-account lapse there’s been a bandwidth problem were the files are only available for the first half of the month before they hit the Podbean ceiling. While SimSyn’s hosting was on Libsyn, we started releasing these episodes as “Special Editions” with newly recorded introductions. When SimSyn moved our hosting to Soundcloud, those files were again lost (and we’d only managed to upload the first 10 anyway). So, here they are once more; uploaded to a 3rd audio service and hopefully the last.
